Instructions for Authors | Journal of Genetics and Applied Biotechnology

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Genetics and Applied Biotechnology publishes original research in genetics, biotechnology, molecular biology, plant and animal breeding, and related disciplines. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. All submissions undergo peer review.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx or .doc). Use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt) with automatic page numbering. Tables must be created using the table function, and equations prepared using Equation Editor or MathType. The author list must be finalized before acceptance.

Title Page

Include a concise title, full author names, affiliations, and corresponding author email. ORCID iD is mandatory for the corresponding author.

Abstract and Keywords

Provide an abstract of approximately 250 words summarizing objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Do not include references. Provide four to six keywords.

Manuscript Structure

Introduction: Present background, relevance, and study objectives.

Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient detail for reproducibility. Deposit sequence data in DDBJ, EMBL, or GenBank and include accession numbers where applicable.

Results: Present findings clearly and concisely.

Discussion: Interpret findings and relate them to existing literature.

Author Contributions

Include a brief statement specifying each author’s role using initials.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledge financial, institutional, or technical support.

Referencing Style

The journal follows the Vancouver referencing style. References must be numbered consecutively and cited in parentheses (e.g., (1), (2,3), (4–7)). The reference list must appear in numerical order.

List up to six authors; if more than six, use “et al.” Journal titles must follow Index Medicus abbreviations. Include DOI where available.

Authors are encouraged to use citation management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, RefWorks, or Citavi.

Ethical Standards

Funding Disclosure

All sources of funding must be disclosed. If none: “This research received no external funding.”

Conflict of Interest

Authors must declare conflicts of interest. If none: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

Data Availability

A Data Availability Statement is required indicating where supporting data can be accessed.

Plagiarism Screening

All submissions are screened prior to peer review. A similarity index below 15% is generally acceptable.

Revision Policy

Revisions must include clearly marked changes and a detailed response to reviewers.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

The journal operates under a fully Open Access model with no Article Processing Charges. There are no submission or publication fees.
